Posterfolio is a volume of forty-one posters - startup teardowns, product launches, editorial covers, merch and title cards - every one of them held to a 4:5 frame. Fixing the format meant nothing could be solved by changing the shape of the page, leaving composition, type and contrast as the only variables.

Every poster gets the same rectangle, so the only thing left to improve is the thinking.

Almost nobody sees a poster at poster size any more. They see it small, in a feed or a grid, next to forty other things competing for the same second.

So each of these is judged at thumbnail scale before it is judged at any other. If the idea does not survive being small, the composition gets rebuilt rather than the type getting bigger, which is a harder fix and the only one that works.

Most of these are seen at thumbnail scale first, in a feed or on a contact sheet. A layout has to survive being small before it earns being large.

And the subjects refuse to sit still. A startup teardown, a title card and a streetwear drop want completely different energy out of the same rectangle.

(Solution)

Judge every poster small before judging it large. If the idea does not survive the thumbnail, the composition changes rather than the type getting bigger.

Running one format across 41 subjects is what turns a set of posters into a practice. The constraint never moves, so the thinking is the only thing that can.

What that buys is range. The same rectangle has to carry a teardown, an editorial cover, a title card and a merch drop, and getting it to change temperature without changing shape is the part worth repeating.
