(About)
The Association of Indian Universities has been the central body bringing Indian universities together since 1925. This is a redesign of its seal: the same architecture and the same symbolism, given the weight to survive being a favicon as well as a stamp, with a stated minimum size and a six-value palette where every value means something.

(Challenge)
The existing mark is a line-drawn seal: fine strokes, a full circle of type, and detail that only survives at the size it was drawn. A century-old institution cannot simply be handed something fashionable instead.
It has to work as a stamp and as a favicon. On a degree certificate, a letterhead, a keychain and a 25px avatar, and the old mark loses its centre well before the smallest of those.
And the symbolism is not optional. The tricolour, the open book, the graduation cap and the Sanskrit motto all have to stay, and all have to stay legible.
(Solution)
Weight, not simplification. The seal keeps its architecture - the ring of type, the building, the open book - and gains the mass it needs to hold together small, or printed in one colour.
A stated floor, measured rather than asserted. The mark is set out at 100px, 50px, 30px and 25px, with 25px named as the minimum: below 35px it starts losing its identity, so the guidance is to stay above that rather than to hope.
Six values, each carrying meaning. Deep blue for wisdom, stability and trust; the orange, white and green of the tricolour beneath the open book for the national heritage; and a motto, *एकता विद्या शक्ति*, that the system is built to support rather than decorate.
