Yantra is VIT's week of technical events, workshops and hackathons, and until this site there was nowhere single to see what was on or sign up. I led the team that built its front door as a 3D environment you walk into, with one sign-up portal underneath.
Services:
Challenge:
A week of events, nowhere to see them together, and a format that reads like a timetable.
Role:
Manager for Yantra: I led a 30+ member team to design and ship a performance-optimised 3D web experience.

About
I put the spectacle at the front and the work underneath, so neither gets in the other's way.
A technical fest competes for a week of a student's life against lectures, deadlines and every other club running something on the same days. Accuracy is the easy half of that argument.
It also had to load. A 3D front door is worthless if it stalls on hostel Wi-Fi, so the scene was built for low-end devices and weak networks.

Challenge
Technical events, workshops and hackathons were spread across formats and audiences. And a page that lists everything accurately still reads like a timetable, which is not a reason to turn up.
Solution
I made the front door a 3D environment you walk into, so the fest is somewhere you arrive rather than something you scroll past, and the experience does the persuading.
Behind it sits one portal for technical events, workshops and hackathons, so once someone is convinced, signing up takes seconds.
